No seriously come back, have you ever stopped and interrogated that question beyond “one who’s good at writing?” If you asked me, I’d say someone who doesn’t sound like the average Joe but also doesn’t sound like he’s never consulted an editor in their life. That’s the short answer.
The shorter answser is: Confidence. Flexibility. Creativity. Those three traits are essential to any copywriter in the industry. The fourth trait that I specialize and bring to the table is intentionality.
I consider every decision, and every delivery point that is possible from a writer's perspective and the one reading it. I make sure there are no redundancies, no errors, and no conflicting information. From the hierarchy to the size of the copy, I have input at every avenue. You’ll feel like you did your due diligence, and I’ll feel like every avenue is explored.
Also to me, time is not only a reference point for when to stop writing, but it’s also a secondary currency to me. I treat time like I treat my words: (Say it with me everyone) Intentionally. Come along with the magical mystery ride of hiring a newfound writer for the first time. Can he adapt? Can he meet the requests asked? Can he stop writing and get to the point? He absolutely can.
